J6 saves Blacks Leisure over £80,000 on stationery and computer consumables

With over 400 retail shops across the UK, Blacks Leisure struggled to control the spend on stationery and computer consumables. "The problem was that every shop was ordering from their own chosen supplier and there was no control over what was being ordered", explains J6 Chief Executive Elie Jankelewitz. "One of the challenges with stationery and computer consumables is that we are talking about thousands of different items, but relatively low order values. It is extremely difficult to control".
"We solved their problem by getting all shops to order online through our unique e-procurement website", he continues. "Black's Leisure selected five suppliers who have the capability to provide a national service, and each supplier linked into the e-procurement website with the following results":
- All orders were input by the local retail shops and consolidated into a single weekly order
- Standard items were agreed, restricting the ability to order non-standard products
- Delivery costs were reduced through more efficient ordering patterns
- Time and effort was saved by reducing the annual invoice volume from 600 to around less than 60
- Annual savings of over £80,000 were achieved across all stationery/office supplies and computer consumables spend
